Marvin Gaye, What's Going On
Original 1971 UK Tamla Motown Records vinyl LP housed in picture sleeve, STML 11190.
Includes the often missing lyric insert.
Earliest A1/B1 matrices and matt textured sleeve. This first UK press is generally considered the best and has a magnificently balanced sound floor.
Vinyl visually glossy but with some minor scuff marks and gentle scratches, some more obviously visible. No deep marks or scratches.
Fractional run-in crackle to the A side. Some soft ticks are luckily confined to the first separator band. Some low level crackle to the quiet A3 plus one soft tick, quiet enough to be unobtrusive. Just a trace of very low level crackle to A4. Other occasional low level crackle here and there, never obtrusive. More noticeable at quiet spots and the quieter B2. No more than two or three isolated soft ticks. Slightly scuffy right at the fade-out of the final track, this is short lived. On the whole the LP still provides a very satisfactory listening experience with background noise never really being an issue.
Labels are clean. Spindle wear is moderate but not excessive to the point of wear.
Lyric insert EX.
Plain inner sleeve has a neat two inch split to bottom centre, else in good order.
External sleeve top end VG. Main panels bright and clean. Just starting to show light signs of wear to tips and extremities. Some minor creasing. A small scuff to centre of spine. No defects of note however.
