Marvin Gaye, the "Prince of Soul" of Motown, had been a hit artist for almost a decade when he reached new heights with his album "What's Going On" in 1971. It was the first of Gaye's albums to enter the top ten of the Billboard Top LPs and quickly became Motown's best-selling album. To this day, "What's Going On" is celebrated as one of the greatest albums of all time and is number 1 on the list of the "500 greatest albums of all time" of the Rolling Stone magazine from 2020
