Description
Artist: MARY LOU WILLIAMS
Title: “Zoning”
Label: MARY ~ # M 103. Stereo pressing on medium weight vinyl. Labels are pink with black text.
Year: 1974
Condition:
DISC: NEAR MINT with 100% of original gloss, as clean as can be found. Appears to have been played one or two times at most, and handled with care. Labels are clean. Fidelity is superb. A gorgeous disc you will never need to upgrade.
JACKET: Jacket is nice VG++. Front panel is clean and glossy. Light wear on seams and corners, and bottom left corner has small tear and bump. Reverse has small price notation at bottom right corner. Overall a very nice jacket to accompany the beautiful disc.

“Mary Lou Williams emerged in the early '70s after a long period in which she worked in the Catholic church to resume her always stimulating career as a jazz pianist. On this, one of her finest recordings of her later years, Williams performs in duos and trios with bassist Bob Cranshaw and drummer Mickey Roker, uses Zita Carno on second piano during a couple of the more avant-garde pieces, and also performs some trios with Milton Suggs and Tony Waters on congas. Rather than sounding like a veteran of the 1920s, Mary Lou Williams sounds 40 years younger, shows the influence of McCoy Tyner, and hints at free jazz in spots. An often surprising set of modern jazz.”
