I played it the other day, listening very carefully with an audiophile friend on his top notch equipment It sounds fantastic. This record looks nr. mint but does not sound quite perfect. There are no pops. There is the extremely slight distortion - and this is minimal - caused
- at the pressing or mastering stages,
- by over modulation at the recording stage or
- from the playing of the vinyl?
It is possible this record sounds the same as when it first came out of its inner sleeve and I think that its physical appearance confirms this possibility. You would have to have heard or be very reliably informed that a totally undistorted piece of vinyl exists to decide that this is not nearly as good as it gets. If you have heard a perfect Oriole pressing of this LP, please let me know. It is a strong ‘excellent’ whatever the answer. There are those who might only look at the vinyl and state unreservedly that this is nr. or even mint, leaving it for you to have reservations and/or return it. That would certainly save on the time it has taken to listen and describe as accurately as is reasonably possible; it’s not the way I do things though. I did enjoy the listening a lot but with a touch of sadness as under other circumstances I’d have kept it.
I accept returns. I’ve sold similar top grade collectable vinyl. It does not come back. I also pack special vinyl very well and charge a little more for the extra weight. I’m going to have to leave it to you now. You know this opportunity is Very rare!
