Year of release is 1962. This is a listing for a sensational copy of this superb picture sleeve and 45. The picture sleeve gets an overall grade of VG++ and is downgraded from mint due to just a few minor imperfections. There is a slight void to the right of Mary's face which can be seen in the image below. It appears, although it is very difficult to see, that there was previously some writing on the sleeve that was carefully removed (before I ever owned it!). All that remains are a few near microscopic signs of there having been writing there. I have actually owned this sleeve for nearly two decades, looked at it dozens of times, and was either unaware of this flaw, or had a forgotten about every time I took it somewhere with me to show it off! I mention this simply to give you an accurate description of the extent of the flaw. The texture of the sleeve is slightly affected in that the area surrounding the flaw. It has SLIGHTLY rougher texture. The texture merely feels like peach fuzz compared to the rest of the sleeve that is smooth. The back of the sleeve has a few little grey spots in the right quadrants that advertise Tamla LP's. These tiny grey spots look like they could be caused by water; however, texture is unaffected, and they could have resulted also from the application of dye at the pressing plant. Other than these two minor flaws, there is just a handful of extremely minor wrinkles at the top. There is zero surface or ring wear, and there are no tears or frays whatsoever! This is overall a beautiful sleeve that passes for near mint with a casual inspection. Included with the picture sleeve is a custom matte board insert for protection and a nice Japanese resealable outer sleeve. Matte board should always be used instead of cardboard for picture sleeve protection because the oils contained in cardboard will damage the paper over time and cause discoloration. The record to this piece gets a visual and play grade of VG+ to VG++ is madeof vinyl and not styrene. Check out the sound bytes and listen to the often neglected flip side, I'm Gonna Stay.
