MATTEW BOWER/RICHARD YOUNGS 'Site/Realm' LP (US/New Zealand, VHF Records/Insample, Catalogue #VHF#20/Insample#3) Brand new/unplayed copy (warehouse stock find!) of limited VHF/Insample label collaborative label production from 1995 of collaborative album of dual guitar noise recordings by Matthew Bower (Skullflower, Total,) and Richard Youngs (A Band.) Note: Each edition of this album has unique color variations.

(NOTE: LIMITED VINYL EDITION!)

"Someday, the meeting that occurred between these two guitarists will be legendary. For now, its only available on the archaic 12" LP format. Matthew Bower has been carving great big swaths of sound into the collective unconscious of hundreds of young people for over a decade. His work with Skullflower, Total, Sunroof!, etc ranks as some of the most memorable and durable (not to mention enjoyable) of the "noise" era. Richard, on his own and with assorted collaborators, has been busy issuing creative and personal missives from a practically unknown and unexplored corner of the universe of sound. The music on this thing is two side long tracks for electric guitars. "Site" bakes the listener with radioactive waves of high pitched and droning feedback. After a few minutes, a zen like peace emerges from the noise, causing the listener to fall into a deep trance which induces thoughts of flowers and birds and peace and stuff. "Realm" works a slightly less dense tangent on the two guitars as atom-splitters formular, but still manages to throw off all sorts of sparks. As if all of that bragging about the music wasn't enough, the record comes housed in a beautiful fold-out jacket, lovingly hand screened and assembled by Charlestown MAs Kristin Anderson. You know her work from various Poon Village and Sound@1 releases, Ill bet. 2 tracks, about 50 minutes."

Tracks on this LP are as follows:

  • Site (24:41)
  • Realm (18:53)
