Extremely Rare Canadian Pressing on the Apollo Series for Maple Leaf Records! Maxine Sullivan (May 13, 1911 – April 7, 1987) was an American blues and jazz singer. Born Marietta Williams in Homestead, Pennsylvania. She married jazz musician John Kirby in 1938 (divorced 1941), and stride pianist Cliff Jackson in 1956. Sullivan died in 1987 in New York. She was inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1998.
