DESCRIPTION
Maynard Ferguson - “Around The Horn” EmArcy Records MG 36076 (Mono) from 1956. Great Jazz Album from Maynard Ferguson along with Herb and Lorraine Gelder, Buddy Childers, Ray Lenn, Bobby Burgess, Milt Bernhart, Georgie Auld, Bill Holman, Bud Shank, Alvin Stoller, Buddy Clark and Ray Brown. Bill Holman was Arranger. On the Original Deep Groove Blue with Silver Print Mercury EmArcy Jazz Label. This has the same markings in the Run-Off Vinyl as the first pressing but since those were on the EmArcy “Drummer” Label, I think this one must be slightly later.
CONDITION
The Laminated Sleeve shows light shelf wear and corner softening. There is some peeling of the laminate along the opening edge & some slight staining there too. There is some “age spotting" on the back. I would probably give it a VG+ as it is still very solid with no cutouts, splits, tears, etc. but the but the front slick has a weird kind of “graininess” to it, don’t really know how to describe it. I think it is a printing flaw rather than wear. The Vinyl itself is in clean Glossy condition looking lightly played. If you look closely you can find a few light scuffs & maybe a couple light hairlines. Probably EX visually and mostly plays mostly perfect but there are 4 or 5 soft tics on side two - might just need a better cleaning than I can provide with my Discwasher brush. Sounds great overall so I am calling it VG+ but it is mostly better. The labels show a couple light spindle trails but are otherwise Near Mint.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less! If you are not satisfied that a purchase meets my description, I will do what I can to make it right if you give me the chance and work with me! Please feel free to check my feedback.
