Description
Mayoguangi Zinar:Acoustic Buggy (LeAsia/1986)
Incredible, super ultra ultra rare and truly unique & original homemade monster with a capital M from Colorado. Where do I begin?
In Zinar's own words, he says "these home recordings are the delight of LeAsia Records is simply because this musical attempt at acoustic rock and roll is a first in musicology and language". The instruments used are listed as "drumbsfluitsguitars". The "drumbs" consist of a wooden log, lunch pail and two packing cases, and are played with two heavy "drumb" sticks.
The music starts with the "fluit"-led blues trance instrumental Mayoguangi Zinar; veers into Mayoguangi Alien, a faster still-bluesy rant with Mayo's gutteral vocals singing about who he is and what he wants (good luck figuring out either).
The highlight of the LP is Doybuchi Gloria, which covers the entirety of side 2. This is perhaps the most demented, crudest, nastiest, and rockingest version of the Them classic ever. From the opening "jam" where the "fluit" cranks out the main riff over pounding packing cases, I mean drumbs, into Zinar's growling recitation of the words, into a stiff shot of Tequila (the song not the booze), into whatever else entered his mind and drifted out through his vocal chords, or whatever was left of both by the end of this.
This is homemade recording at its extreme best, the epitome of the DIY ethic. Fans of Father Yod and early Loren Mazzacane could not go wrong loving this. If my description sounds totally over the top, it is because I have been listening to the record while typing this, and have been truly inspired. I'd put up some sound bites, but it might cause eBay to explode!
The cover consists of paste-on pages front and back. What's unique again about this is that this was the first homemade record I'd ever seen where the paste-on covers looked like they were typed up on a computer!
According to what little I've heard about this, there were supposedly only 100 or 150 copies ever made.
The album is kept in a plastic outerbag which is taped shut at the top. To my knowledge, this is the way these were put together. This would be considered sealed. The cover is in near perfect condition.
Note: The scans below are from my personal copy. I wouldn't be selling something as awesome as this if it weren't a spare.
Shipping will be quoted with my post-auction message.
