Description
MC5 — "I Can Only Give You Everything" b/w "One of the Guys" AMG Records AMG-1001, Detroit, 1967 — The Band's Very First Single SIGNED by Two Original Members
Up for sale is an original 1967 pressing of the MC5's debut single on the small, short-lived Detroit label AMG Records (AMG-1001). This 45 predates the band's Elektra Records deal and the release of "Kick Out the Jams" by two years, making it the rarest and most historically significant piece of MC5 vinyl in existence. AMG was a tiny local label (initials of owner Arnold Mark Geller) whose entire catalog is limited to a handful of releases, and surviving copies of this single are scarce.

Signatures / Provenance: This copy is dual-signed by two original MC5 members, both now deceased:
- The paper sleeve is hand-inscribed in black marker: "To Zack, Nine Lives for you!! Dennis 'Machine Gun' Thompson" — signed by Dennis Thompson, the MC5's original drummer, who passed away in May 2024 as the band's last surviving original member.
- The record label itself is signed directly by Wayne Kramer, the MC5's founding guitarist and songwriter, who passed away in February 2024.
- The name Jon Eppinga is written on the corner of the sleeve who was a drummer and part of the Detroit scene at the time.
This copy is therefore signed by two of the band's five original members — both now deceased — adding significant collector value beyond the single's already-substantial rarity as the band's first-ever release.
Condition:
- Vinyl: yellow AMG Records labels, clean and legible, standard trained-eye "X" scuffs visible on label from original radio/promo handling (does not affect play) Plays with clean strong sound VG+ condition
- Sleeve: original plain paper company sleeve, shows expected age toning and light wear/soiling consistent with a 55+ year old paper sleeve; pencil notation "30" visible on back (prior dealer price code)

- This is part of a Detroit punk/rock collection that was purchased by my old record store in Florida
