Description

An original 1st pressing of the MC5 live masterpiece on USA Elektra...what's not to like?
A cracking 1969 original copy. NOT the uncensored under the counter copies. This is the Non-gatefold version without the interior band image. Tan labels.... 1st issue from the time of release and only used for a couple of months before they switched to Red. Note that the vinyl is a heavy 60's pressing not the flimsy crap pumped out later... There's also another good indicator of an early '69 copy which is quite hard to spot... look at the Elektra logo on the labels.. the "R" next to it is UNCIRCLED... this is the original 60's design and was used from around 1965... [The circling would have been evident on all seventies copies]. Matrix deets..."A-AX-(CP) 1-B1 / B-(CP)". This is straight outta '69...and it sounds amazing...
The cover is genuine '69 and the back image is 'PASTED'. This was the sixties way of sleeve manufacture and discontinued swiftly as the seventies rolled-in...Also included is a generic inner from the time.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg) In very nice condition and hasn't been abused. Under close inspection there are a few lightish marks - nothing heavy or sinister..it's still looking pretty sweet. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAR EXCELLENT level  of playback with two deviations. The audio is really stunning ...one can't imagine later copies getting close to the ear-shattering volume conveyed on this heavy near-master copy. You can crank it right up and it has amazing energy... Expect a touch of static in the odd spot, but this is pretty minor and infrequent. With the sheer volume on offer here it doesn't feature much, by and large. The only tracks where it drops below the given grading is on SIDE 2... "tracks 2 & 4". We're getting a few crackles and a few pops.The only place it starts to invade a bit is in the second half of "Starship" [the final track] where all the spacey sounds are kicking off. Other than that..."No Big Deal"... Unquestionably a 60's masterpiece.
Cover (Vg+) Would in most situations turn up looking very worse for wear. These original USA copies were extremely prone to wear having not been laminated. But this copy is still looking very sweet. Both front and back are very nice and clean with only light minor wear in places. Yes, there's a bit of edge wear in places...but nothing unsightly and no wear-through at all really. Text on the spine is still mostly legible with a bit of wear on one word. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A survivor from the sixties for sure...
Inner (Vg+) Aged, but in nice condition. No splits.
