Description

In 1984, Meat Loaf released his fourth studio album. By this time he had become internationally known, and was still riding high on the success of his first studio album, (and one of the best selling albums of all time, at over FORTY FOUR MILLIONS copies sold worldwide), 'Bat Out of Hell'. Sadly, Meat Loaf lost his life this past January. (Still trying to process that...RIP Meat Loaf. You were a man of amazing talent, and a phenomenal singer, musician, and humanitarian!)

Meat Loaf collaborated with longtime writing partner Jim Steinman on two tracks on 'Modern Girl'. (Steinman also passed away nearly a year ago. RIP Jim. You were one of the best!) Meat Loaf has a duet on this album with The Who's Roger Daltrey, titled "Bad Attitude", as well as the title track featuring Clare Torrey, called "Modern Girl". (Torrey sang on Pink Floyd's massive hit album 'Dark Side of the Moon', with lead vocals on the hauntingly beautiful "Great Gig in the Sky".) The record also features guitarist Bob Kulick (brother of Bruce Kulick, a guitarist that was in Kiss). Several amazing musicians on this vintage 80s Meat Loaf album!

The cover of the album shows a beautiful female model on a motorbike. To promote that album, Meat Loaf's record company released a shaped picture disc of that track, "Modern Girl". It was also used to help promote a Suzuki motorcycle give away. The shaped pic disc came with a PVC jacket, (with hype sticker), and a poster of Meat Loaf on one side, and tour dates on the opposite side. It folded up to look like a poster sleeve, and the model's gorgeous face is on one side, and song titles and credits are on the B side of the poster sleeve. Vinyl looks great, with only a few very light surface marks, mostly on the smooth vinyl, and not the actual grooves. I cannot vouch for sound quality, as I never play specialty vinyl, such as picture discs and colored vinyl records.

A really nice and very cool Meat Loaf collectible, in its original clear plastic jacket, and original poster! For that loved one in your life who's crazy about Meat Loaf, 80s hard rock, or collectors of shaped picture discs. Or you know, you can grab this for yourself, and add to that always-growing vinyl collection! You can never have too much Meat Loaf!
