GEORGE GILBERT - "MEDWAY FLOWS SOFTLY - Songs of Kent" - VINYL LP + lyric insert

MIME RECORDS - LPMS 7401  - 1974 - UK ORIGINAL

Extremely rare vinyl LP of 11 folk songs written by George Gilbert relating to the Medway area and its history. He provides spoken word introductions to each song and also sings and performs some of them by himself, but there are also performaces by other local Medway musicians including Barbara Jarrett, Bobby Pluck, Peter Mann, Kevin Smith and Nick Tidnam. 

Privately pressed in very small numbers for sale only in the local Kent area and now very hard to find. 

Comes with beautifully illustrated card sleeve and fold-out lyric insert.

 

CONDITION (vinyl/cover)

EX  (very nice barely-played copy with no major surface marks and just a couple of light spindle-lines on the labels; lovely clean and clear sound throughout but this is a low-budget pressing of sometimes very quiet music so there's a handful of minor surface noises, most notably some light ticks in the unaccompanied 'A Legend of The Goodwin Sands')

/ VG+ (light wear, no major defects)

Lyric insert is NR MINT with a couple of tiny asterixes next to placenames in song lyrics and neat hand-written address on the back
