Description
A nice condition record and cover - some flaws but nothing that distracts from a pleasant listening experience. This has the full count in "1-2-3-4" for "I Saw Her Standing There" and that's different from the Capitol 45.
VINYL: A bit above average, especially for such an early pressing of this record, so a strong VG+. Most of the songs play better than VG+ but on the quiet songs like "'Til There Was You" and (sadly) "This Boy" the “background crackle” is audible. This makes it a very good but not great listening experience. If you want to hear John's voice in all it's Mono glory, put on "Not A Second Time" and prepare to be blown away. You can feel the anguish in the depth of his voice that would be minimized when transferred to a CD which tends to equalize all the dynamics, taking the Producer's unique talent in shaping the sound, right out of the mix.
COVER: Average or VG+ The seams are intact with a little fraying near the opening (or mouth) of the cover and some fraying on the top seam. If you look at the top right corner of the front where it has T 2047 - the "portrait" or "paste on" part of the cover has a 2 inch separation where I suppose the glue or "paste" has dissolved over the course of 50 years. With all that, it amazingly still displays very nicely after 50 years with no writing or stains. The back cover has a name written in ink on the top and there is a tiny bit of peeling in the space between George and Ringo. The spine is frayed but you can read the LP title. The best part is the condition of the "portrait" on the cover. It has no marks and no ring-wear impressions.
INNER SLEEVE: Capitol and there are no other Beatles albums on there (which makes sense since this was their first album) and no LP's with a higher number. There is a 2" tear at the bottom of the inner sleeve which is common for LP's that were often played and played, and played,
LABELS: No writing or scratches – the spindle hole is clean.
Please note that this record is being sold as-is with no claims of condition for the LP or the jacket. Every stereo is a little different and I am not a professional album jacket grader. My idea of VG+ is in reference to other albums in my collection. This is a nice condition album and cover. I hope that between the photos and my description you can get an idea of the condition but again, it is being sold as-is with no returns.
