MEET THE BEATLES Lp # 3 Code CAPITOL ST-2047 No George Martin FACTORY SEALED MINT original 1964 printing
In person the front cover is black and white (not blue) and the back is a nice white with sharp black print. Also, it was very hard to get a picture of the 1" shrink split, so I added a few pictures to make it easier to identify where it is and exactly how big it is. my pictures look as though the opening side is not covered in shrink when it truly is.
This is an original '64 still sealed BEATLES U.S. lp from my older brothers collection, he did most of his buying in the '60s and never even opened most of the records he bought, on the other hand I was in a band at 15 and loved music. It is on the CAPITOL Label #ST-2047 called: MEET THE BEATLES. On back bottom right corner is #3 factory code. Also on back is NO Mention of Prod. by GEORGE MARTIN.
Shrink wrap is clean with only light wear and one small 1" split on the right opening side, everywhere else the shrink has No tears, there are 2 perfect round evenly spaced breathe holes on back close to top seam, they are in between the 2 sentences above the title, one is just below the word About, the other below the word New in New York. On front is another perfect round breathe hole close to bottom seam. it was hard for me to locate a second breathe hole. On back top right corner is a small stamped blue #4, it is over FDS logo and on shrink, not on cover.
The lp feels heavy and comes in a thick cardboard cover with title in blue and brown, colors on front are vibrant black and white photos are detailed and all print is bold. The seams and spine are clean and strong with NO splits, flaking, wear, etc. Also on spine is tiny CAPITOL Logo, corners are sharp without being bent or pushed in. I noticed only an ever so slight hint of browning on the front and back. It is guaranteed to be an original '64 U.S. pressing. 48 years old! Not many sealed copies left of original 1964 printings! Own an original !

On 30-Mar-12 at 23:41:47 EDT, seller added the following information: Using Perry Cox Beatles american record price guide I would assume the following information. This copy has #3 on the backcover. Those were only made up until 1969. Since this copy has a RIAA gold record stamp on the front it might be a 1968-1969 pressing. Cox states that Meet The Beatles is one of the rarest beatles albums to find sealed. The dealer I bought this from told me he personally bought this copy in the 1960's. I paid him about $250.00 for it. Its very hard for me to tell the inside sleeve. But if I had to guess from what little I could see I would say its a plain white label which would work alongside the idea of 1968-1969. Cox also said that rarer beatles sealed albums can sell up to 8x the value of a NM opened record. So the value of this record still could reach as high as $500.00 Its possible its a rare record club version but without opening it to see the label I cannot tell that or not. The Beatles font color on the cover is a type of dull brown/tint of red or "plum" like color. I also have a copy of The Beatles Story sealed for sale which I have no idea how old a pressing it is.
