Megadeth is an American heavy metal band led by founder, frontman, guitarist, and songwriter Dave Mustaine. Formed in 1983 following Mustaine's departure from Metallica, the band has since released eleven studio albums, six live albums, two EPs, and two compilations.

As a pioneer of the American thrash metal movement, Megadeth rose to international fame in the 1980s, but were plagued by constant lineup changes, due partly to the band's notorious substance abuse problems. After finding sobriety and securing a stable lineup, Megadeth went on to release a string of platinum and gold albums, including the Grammy nominated, double-platinum Countdown to Extinction in 1992. Megadeth disbanded in 2002 after Mustaine suffered a severe nerve injury to his left arm, but following extensive physical therapy, Mustaine reformed the band in 2004.

Why do people keep comparing this wonderful masterpiece of heavy metal to Metallica's Black Album? This is totally differemt to Metallica's Black Album and 10000 times better then the black album. This album kicks ass, full of awesome heavy metal riffs that will be stuck in you're head for weeks, great vocals and lyrics by Mustaine, excellent drumming, great bass and awesome guitar solos. All the songs on this album are brilliant my favourite by miles is Psychotron love the riffs. Even though this isn't thrash metal it's still heavy metal the way we like it. In my opinion this isn't as good as their next album Youthanasia (but alot of people would argue with that) this is still an awesome piece of heavy metal which should belong in every Megadeth/Heavy Metal fans. Forget The Black Album. MEGADETH ROCK!!!!!!!!

Megadeth are the thinking man's thrash band without a doubt. The song Countdown to Extinction was nominated for a Grammy and in my opinion should've won it hands down. Every song on this album is killer...even the song High Speed Dirt which has no particular bearing on my life is a decent track! The music is excellent, the lyrics are meaningful and the artwork is thought provoking! One of the greatest metal records of all time!!.

This is a must-have for everybody on Earth. Its songs are incredible inspirational, like SWEATING BULLETS and SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION. Even the name "Megadeth" is an inspiration to keep living. I pump this baby through headphones every night while I'm asleep, and it has helped my bed-wetting problem over the years, in that I wet my bed much more now. I've learned the meaning of life with this album, it's much better than my old Color Me Badd album's.
