Description
Elektra Records EKS 74104 Stereo PROMO Bridget St. John, Songs for the gentle man [sic] with original Elektra inner sleeve and lyric sheet insert
CONDITION: Very nice copy, conservatively graded and based on listening to the record in its entirety- my wife thought it was me practicing in the basement since I play in similar tunings- the afternoon of August 14, 2016 while preparing this listing, using my Hitachi HT45 turntable with an Audio Technica DC30 cartridge tracking at about 1.5 grams. The record has intermittent light surface noise that is most noticeable, of course, in the empty grooves between the tracks and in the quieter sections of the innovative pieces on this incredible recording, especially where instrumentation is minimal. The vinyl has some very light surface scratches, but luckily nothing serious enough to compromise its overall outstanding audio performance. The Dandelion record labels are clean, with dark grey/light black lettering and designs over white background; within the dandelion design where Bridget St. John's name appears, in very small black letters it says, "Radio Station Copy." I have provided a close-up illustrating this in the photographs for this auction. Nothing in the way of spindle marks. The record jacket is in good condition, notwithstanding an interior seam split at the top of the cover that extends left to right from the letter "t" in Bridget to middle of the letter "J" in John. There is no ring wear to the front and back. As for the record jacket's edges, there is some wear to the black textured paper, most notably, once again, to the top edge. The spine is intact, with all text legible with the exception of the first three letters of Bridget, where the paper is peeling; this is easily REPAIRABLE with paper glue. There are the usual dings at each corner, each showing some abrading to the cardboard. As for the back cover, the ding in its lower left hand corner has caused the beginning of a 1/4" seam split that is visible. Lastly, there are a couple of tiny sections along the back jacket's open edge where the black textured paper has peeled back a little, also easily repairable. The lyric sheet is in excellent, near mint condition. All of the above is shared as MY responsibility in our deal, and in the interest of full disclosure. In truth, this is quite a nice copy, especially for such an obscure record now in its 45th year of its existence.
Don't forget to avail yourself of ebay's "Mouse over image to zoom" feature when you review the pictures for this listing, a great asset in seeing for yourself the minor defects described above.
A final comment: the hole punch in the cover's upper left hand corner was an Elektra Records way of indicating promotional copy. Cut-outs for this LP (also rare in themselves, are traditional clipped-corner style.

I use a professional, shipping apparatus specific to LPs, with the inner sleeve and record OUTSIDE the cardboard outer record jacket to prevent seam splits.
