MELLOW CANDLE
" DAN THE WING / SILVERSONG "
Original 45 on the DERAM RECORDS lable cat# DM 357 from 1972
Okay - certainly THE most collectible folk LP on the lable, and of all British Folk-Rock. It's understandably of great interest simply because it IS that good! For Deram to issue this single, I believe they had faith in the band's talents and in the strength of their music, but sadly the public at large had no idea.... probably just didn't hear them played. Even with a great single to promote them, the radio wasn't going to play it anyway - too busy repeating the same chart pop pap endlessly, twice an hour surrounded by meaningless DJ talk.
For me, the 'B' side 'Silversong' is special, a really tasteful top-quality song with outstanding vocals and harmonies. Dan The Wing is excellent though and probably the most likely track to attract airplay.
One of Britain's finest folk-rock groups, with their only 7".
Don't miss this scarce original copy.
The vinyl is VG+ condition, sleeve (or cleaning) spider-web scuff and a couple of surface marks visible, a respectable copy all round and plays well.
The Lables grade VG condition, bright, with a name on both sides in pen.
Original Company sleeve included.
