Description

Willem Mengelberg conducts the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra in "recently discovered live concert recordings from 1939-1943" issued by Music and Arts Program of America, Inc. The performances are "remastered from glass-based acetates; surface noise, clicks, pops and scratches on original disks!". Program includes JS Bach Suite 2 & Wedding Cantata/Mozart Flute Concerto & Piano Concerto K459/Beethoven Symphony 3/Berlioz Faust Excerpts/Brahms Violin Concerto with Krebbers/Dvorak Violin Concerto With Maria Neuss/Weber Oberon Overture/Wagner Tannhauser Overture/Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto 2 with Gieseking. LPs are NM except 1 small pressing mark near beginning of Beethoven. Box VG+ with light wear, Decent notes on back with performers listed and dates noted. No other notes. The sound is typical of pre-war transcription discs.
