Description
Willem Mengelberg recorded Liszt’s “Les Preludes” acoustically with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra for Victor in April 18 and 20, 1922 on 4 78 rpm sides, 74490-92 and 66131. The first three were 12”, the last, 10.”
Four single-sided pressings from masters were announced in the monthly supplements of January (sides 1 and 2) and April (sides 3 and 4), 1923 They were replaced as 6225 and 6373, two-sided discs, in a late July catalog of that same year when much of the Red-Seal catalog was reissued back-to-back. The last side of 6373 is dubbed.
The undubbed 10” disc was listed but a few months.
