MERCYFUL FATE was one of the original Occult Heavy Metal bands arising from Denmark in the early 1980's. Led by King Diamond, Mercyful Fate disbanded after this album as King Diamond went solo. Mercyful Fate would return in the early 1990's with a few albums before King Diamond returned to his solo band.
