MEREDITH MONK & DON PRESTON "Candy Bullets And Moon" AUNT JAMINA AND THE UNITED PANCAKES RARE DWR-6806 ONE-SIDED 45 plays at 33 1/3 rpm. Label has some stains and minor damage on lower half (see photo) and vinyl is in VG condition but plays fine WITH background noise throughout but NO skips! Sold "AS IS". Payment must be received within 3 days of purchase.

DON PRESTON
A very versatile keyboardist who deserves much greater recognition,
Don Preston is one of the few synthesizer players
to develop his own sound on the instrument.
Preston played with Herbie Mann while serving
in the military in the early 1950s. He was part of
the Detroit jazz scene after his discharge, and in the
late 1950s he moved permanently to Los Angeles, gigging
with Charlie Haden in 1959.
Preston performed jazz and experimental music in the 1960s,
including with his group Aha! in 1963.
He worked on and off with Frank Zappa from 1967-74,
toured with Gil Evans in 1971 and played with Buell Neidlinger in the 1970s.
A busy studio musician for decades,
Preston has occasionally appeared in
L.A. nightclubs playing with advanced musicians.
Preston recorded a duo album with Mike Mantler in 1985 for Watt
and as a leader for Echograph in 1997.
MEREDITH MONK
The career of composer, vocalist, and filmmaker Meredith Monk
has been understandably diverse, resulting in a dozen albums
— most for ECM New Series — plus several documentaries
and numerous awards for both careers. Born in 1942,
she attended Sarah Lawrence College and began composing while there.
In 1968, Monk formed The House, a record company-of-sorts
for interdisciplinary works relating both to music, dance,
and film.
She signed to the ECM label in the late '70s and has recorded
avant-garde works encompassing jazz,
classical, and theater music consistently since.
