MERLE TRAVIS -- Songs Of The Coal Mines -- hard to find, original 1963 U.S. album, Mono Press.  Raw, haunting Country-Blues masterpiece from Merle Travis, arguably his finest album, recorded over three days in 1963 and made up of original songs depicting the brutal, pitiless life of rural coal miners -- in many ways, a Country Blues concept album.  Harrowing Blues number "Pay Day Come Too Slow" is up there with Travis' very best work.  Original copies of this have become very difficult to find these days ...
