You are bidding on one of the most (if not THE MOST) RARE MERZBOW (& MASONNA) records in existence.
MERZBOW + MASONNA “GOLD LATEX” EP ZSF PRODUKT/COQUETTE Japan(February 1992)
A special 7”GOLD VINYL ACETATE that was only sold directly as a pre-order from the artists. This copy is the MOST SCARCE version - the GOLD UNPLAYABLE “Damaged Art Edition” copies of 13 COPIES ONLY (a Co-Release by Merzbow’s ZSF Label andMasonna’s COQUETTE label in Japan).
The seven inch was originally packaged in a roughly 8”x11” sized black& white paper collaged cover which was completely sealed in Liquid Latex. You had to cut the cover open to get to the record inside. Over the years the Rubber cover became sticky then dark, brittle and completely disintegrated. Thus there is no Liquid Latex sleeve -this is ONLY the RECORD, the ORIGINAL DUST SLEEVE (not just the white paper sleeve included with most copies), and ULTRA RARE INSERT CARD (hand stamped –also not included in all copies). The Sticker that indicated the number of this LIMITED DAMAGED ART COPY copy was attached to the Rubber cover. It is not included here as it was attached to the disintegrated Rubber cover. I can’t recall what # this copy was assigned (this was after all 21 years ago).
Again – read this clearly – THIS IS THE UNPLAYABLE “DAMAGED ART EDITION” which is the MOST RARE VERSION (only 13 copies produced). THIS MEANS THIS RECORD WILL NOT PLAY AT ALL ON EITHER SIDE. It was not intended to be playable. This package is sold as an ULTRA RARE ART OBJECT ONLY. It looks exactly the same now as when I received it. The Gold Acetate is cracked and peeling (some of which has flaked off of the metal plate). See photos. Record is listed as MINT as this is the original condition of the record.
The Original Dust sleeve has an approximately 1”x ¼” scuff on the back side which is where the Liquid Latex was stuck to it (see photos). As carefully as it was removed, it was fused to the paper.
The last copy of this record sold went for $371.00 (US) on eBay on November 28th 2008. You may not see another copy of this for sale ever again !!!!
