Description

You are bidding on one of the rarest of all Metallica vinyl collectibles: an original 12" white label promo single for "For Whom the Bell Tolls" (catalog number ED 5026), pressed in tiny quantities by Elektra in 1984.  This single is the only place you can find the super rare 3:59 radio edit of the song, which has never been officially released anywhere else. The disc's b-side features the regular 5:10 album version.  This is a first pressing, marked by the ST-ED-5026-A-SP code printed below the title on the label.  (On second pressings, it's ST-ED-5026-A-AR.)  This is a truly hard-to-find record, and copies rarely show up on eBay.
I'd grade the vinyl a VG+.  The vinyl is glossy, with no visible spindle marks on the label.  Each side has a couple of non-feelable surface scuff marks, none of which affect play.  The record also has a slight warp, only visually noticeable when the b-side is playing, but again, the sound is not affected.  Having listened to both sides, the record sounds heavy and powerful, with no skips, jumps, or clicks.  Any white spots in the picture are just specks of dust picked up by the camera.
The Elektra company sleeve also grades a VG+, with no writing, stickers, or seam splits; just slightly dinged corners and a tiny paper tear below the Elektra logo on one side (see photo).  Plain white inner sleeve included.

I'm starting the auction price low with no reserve.  Shipping will be $4 for Media Mail within the United States.  If you live in other parts of the world, or if you'd rather I send it Priority Mail, please send me a message, and I'll give you a shipping quote.  Please feel free to contact me with any other questions you might have.  Thanks, and happy bidding!
