Up for auction is a super rare copy of the Metallica 12" EP "Whiplash" originally released in the U.S. on Megaforce Records (MRS-04) in 1983.

-Guaranteed original First Pressing, not reissue
-STERLING stamped in run-out matrix
-Original "dished" deep groove silver/gray labels
-Glossy cover
-No UPC/bar code on cover
-Includes Remixes and rare live versions
-From my personal collection

Note: Beware of reissues!  Original copies, like this one, have the "dished" deep groove indentations on the labels.  The reissue labels were flat.  Many sellers don't know the difference and sell the reissues as originals!

Condition:
The cover is still in very good condition with moderate signs of wear.  Front and back still have a nice shine to them with some light ring rubbing top middle.  Seams are strong, intact, no splits, just some light rub here and there on the edges.  Corners generally good but show moderate rubbing.  Cover shows a little "dishing" curve from storage, which should flatten out in time.  Still an attractive, collectible example.  Grade: Very Good Plus (VG+), better than typical VG copies.

The vinyl is in very nice condition, still retains its original shine.  No serious scratches or scuffs, but it does have a few noticeable hairlines on both sides, probably from taking the record out of paper inner sleeve a few times.  Nothing that can be felt--or that affects the quality of the playback.  Labels are clean, no marks around spindle holes, indicating little previous play.

Play-Tested: The audio quality is still very nice, just a light sign of pressing noise in the run-in grooves which disappears once music kicks in--then it's totally not noticeable at all.  No skips, no loud pops or clicks.  Plays generally clean, nice fidelity.  Been archived in my collection for 20 years un-played.  Still a nicely preserved Metallica rarity.  Grade: Very Good Plus (VG+), but plays more toward Excellent.
