Description
These guys broke so many barriers. They made metal that the mainstream could embrace. Some might hate that declaration but it's a relative statement. This double album was one of the first (and last) to recognize that the grooves of a vinyl record restricted the bass line of a big sounding record, especially when there was more than half an hour total of music. Todd Rundgren dealt with it in 1975 on his album "Initiation" a completely different way but this amazing band decided they would sidestep the problem by spreading their new set of songs over two discs inside of the usual one. It was a lot more money for the package cost and they doubled down on quality by spending the money to do the record in direct metal mastering but they kept the price at the stores to the usual price. It's normal now in the era of super high fidelity vinyl to do what they did over thirty years ago but that doesn't change the fact that it kicks ass big time today, now! I'm pricing this based on what Metallica fans seem to be willing to actually shell out for this edition in this condition on ebay.
