Description
From November 1972, one of the most spiritual and profoundly moving albums in rock music, The Moody Blues' 'Seventh Soujourn' (THS 7). Released on the band's very own record label (Threshold Records), it would become the group's last album before they all took a 6-year break from touring and recording as "The Moody Blues". Even though by this time they had achieved a healthy measure of success, 'Seventh Sojourn' was a difficult record to complete; intense and non-stop touring had taken their toll. However, the music on this record belies any problems members within the band were having. From the first song to the last, the recording and quality of the compositions are simply magnificent. It is, in one word, a masterpiece.
On offer here is the very sought after audiophile, half-speed mastered pressing (MFSL 1-151) by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab from August 1984. Due to the multi-layered type of recording (which was required to produce this album) finding a decent pressing which does justice to the gorgeous songs and the meticulous way they were recorded is quite challenging. Fortunately this pressing from MFSL does do justice to the incredible audio that was captured on the master tape. The sound is detailed and lush.... the acoustic guitars are no longer buried in the mix....the bass is well defined....and, most importantly, the audio is distortion-free.
Please Note: There were 2 versions of this title which were released by MFSL. The first one was released during the initial press run from August, 1984 and had a distinctive, matt "textured" feel to the entire gatefold jacket. The cover art was printed on this special matt paper stock and then glued on to the heavy boards. The record is also slightly heavier. The second version was released a few months later and is easily differentiated due to the cover art being printed directly on to cheap, glossy, white cardboard; with the colors having that "washed out" and faded look. The record is also flimsier. Often, these 2nd pressings have a "cut-out" or "drill-hole" through the jacket. The one offered in this listing is the very first one from August 1984.
Gatefold Jacket: Near Mint(minus)......the heavy, but delicate matt-textured cover is almost perfect....showing some wear to the top and botton edges; as well as the spine; the subtle colors are remarkably unfaded and reveal the beauty of Phil Travers' original artwork. The inner gatefold is as good as it gets....a beautiful example and one that is always hard to find in decent condition.

Record: Near Mint.....wonderful mirror-like shine to both sides....almost looks unplayed. Labels are near-perfect. Tremendous audio and a truly remarkable example of this legendary album.
