This is a still sealed Mobile Fidelity pressing of the album by Hank Crawford titled "Soul Of The Ballad" (MFSL 1-224). This is one of the albums that Mobile Fidelity put out on 200 gram vinyl, almost the same weight as the UHQR series. Only 5000 copies were made of the UHQR titles, far less were were pressed of this title, probably only about 2500 or so. JVC had minimum pressing runs that they would do, but with the Anadisc series they could press as many, or as few as they wanted.It is a beautiful copy with no splits or tears in the gatefold jacket, or the plastic bag. It has been packed away in a box for all these years, and all corners are nice and sharp. This is a great sounding album, originally recorded in 1957 on Verve records. ..................

This talented Jazzman takes classic tracks like “Blueberry Hill” - “Stardust” -“Stormy Weather”- “I’m Getting Sentimental Over You” - “Left My Heart In San Francisco” and many more with unique presentations to make them sound like they were his own.

This Memphis-born musician and composer earned his initial fame in the late 50s as a member of Ray Charles groups. Breaking out on his own in 1963 he released Soul Of The Ballad, a soulful combination of blues, mellow tunes and funky tracks. Originally released on Atlantic, Soul Of The Ballad portrays Crawfords innate ability to add a blues coloration to his jazz performances, something not many modern jazzmen can do successfully. ...................

The Gatefold-Cover/Booklet includes the complete original artwork, linernotes and Photos from the ORIGINAL-LP.  There are none dents or cracks in the cover, ..... none of seams are split or corners badly damaged. It is not a cut-out. (No saw marks or drill holes.) The original MFSL-Polybag is still sealed .... with a teat in the perforation on the polybag.
