Description
This 1984 half-speed pressing of John Lennon's 'Imagine' was the first version (1-153) released from MFSL and in my humble opinion, the best one. The sound of the bass guitar on this version is the clincher. There is a natural bounce and warmth to the tone that is simply not there in the later 2003 reissue. Everything sounds much more analog/organic and natural on this first release.
Cover: Near Mint....practically flawless....sharp corners, no ring wear...like you've just unsealed a brand new copy.
NB. Mobile Fidelity used two kinds of techniques when printing the covers for this release. The earliest version (this one) printed the artwork for the front and back covers on matte paper slicks which were then pasted onto the cardboard. This is sometimes referred to as, "Stoughton Printing". Though a little bit more expensive and time consuming, the end result is more pleasing to the eyes. Later versions had the artwork printed directly on thin cardboard with the end result not being nearly as durable nor esthetically pleasing.
Inner-Protective Sleeve: Near Mint
Record: Near Mint....beautiful like-new shine to both sides. Perfect labels....not played more than once or twice.
