Description
Up for auction is a very rare Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs Ultra High Quality Record (UHQR) release of Respighi: Feste Romane (Roman Festivals), featuring Lorin Maazel conducting the Cleveland Orchestra, catalog # MFQR 1-507. This disc is a limited pressing, one of 5,000 copies issued worldwide. Overall the Lp looks to be in very good condition, but when examining it under direct light, side one of the Lp has a tiny scratch mark that is approximately 1/4" in size, The scratch is audible during play and is heard in a series of "pops",when the record plays over this particular passage of the record. Side two has two very tiny scratch marks on it,(these two scratch marks are also less than 1/4" in size), these marks are also audible during "play" of the record The Lp still sounds sharp and crisp with dynamic sound, even from a modest sound system. Apparently the record was mishandled by an inept individual who didn't use proper care when playing the record.There are no spindle marks on the label. The box that the Lp comes housed in is in perfect condition, however the disc does not come with a certificate of authenticity, or the technical information that accompanies the UHQR series of releases.During the quiet passages of the music, some surface noise is present. Some of the surface noise, that might possibly quiet down after the record has been played more times. MFSL never "de-horned" the vinyl, which results in minor surface noise until the record has been played several times.This Lp will make a fine addition to your MFSL collection, and give you a good example of how magnificent a UHQR sounds like instead of just wondering.The winning bidder will pay $4.50 for U.S. mail's "Media Mail" service,this will include up to $100.00 worth of insurance.
