THE BEST sounding version of the original UK Stereo mix of The Beatles' irrefutable psychedelic masterpiece, 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFQR 1-100) as part of their UHQR pressing series in September of 1982. If you know this album well it only takes one listen to know that what I'm saying is true. But don't take my word for it. Here's what George Martin wrote in his 1994 book, 'With A Little Help From My Friends: The Making of Sgt. Pepper':
"Everybody had to be terribly quiet. If anybody were to have coughed, it would have sounded like an explosion. As it is, on the special Ultra High Quality Recording edition of Sgt. Pepper, you can hear the Abbey Road air-conditioning system purring away in the background as Geoff [Emerick] opens the volume faders to the stops at the very end of the die-away. That's how we got the famous piano chord."
This remark goes to the incredible detail heard on this pressing. Martin does not mention the 1st UK....nor the first U.S, Japanese, German, Nimbus Cut etc...he specifically mentions Mobile Fidelity's UHQR pressing. Will anyone dare to dispute the word of the late great Beatles producer, George Martin? If you are properly set up with decent speakers, amp, turntable, (and your cartridge/stylus is properly calibrated)....you will be shaking your head in disbelief. Like you're hearing the music for the first time. The soundstage is huge....with incredible detail in the bass and drums; the clear separation of instruments....absolutely astonishing. In essence, this UHQR pressing is like a 1:1 copy of the Original UK Stereo Master Tape. Within 10 seconds of hearing the first notes of the title track you'll know what I'm talking about. Simply put, nothing can touch this pressing.
Purchased directly through Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab in 1983. This is my last copy.
Condition: Brand New/Factory Sealed.
All the scuff marks, lines, and discoloration that appear on the cover in the photos are on the shrink wrap NOT on the box itself.
Please Note: As usual, due to seasonal fluctuations in temperature over the last 4 decades, the shrink wrap has lost some moisture and become brittle and has opened up in some areas. (See photos)
