Description
Well, my first buyer flaked on me so here we go again.
Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs Ultra High Quality Record.
I was a audiophile dealer back in the day and bought these thinking some day i would have the ultimate system to play them on.
Never got a system i thought was worthy.
Only opened them a couple of times to show friends.
Never played them.
Stored in a temperature controlled studio along with our master tapes.
There is some discoloration on the outside box due, i guess, to dust and age.
Inside is mint.
Time to go to a good analog gearslutz home.
A Recent Mastering Post:
"Forget the fact that vinyl just sounds better. Most of the time, these new modern digital re-releases are created from duplicate copies and safety copies - NOT the original master tapes, as they are either in very poor condition, or the label/owner just doesn't lend them out easily. The vinyl copies were made shortly after the master tape was new, fresh, and was at the pinnacle of sound quality. The half-speed stuff is ALWAYS from the fresh, original master, unless otherwise noted.
So...they can have extra super duper CDs with 192K and 64 bit resolution. They are still making them from degrading master tapes that will never sound as they did 30+ years ago.
The 1982 Mobile Fidelity UHQR version of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, is the finest release of that album....ever. It will never be mastered better, due to the aforementioned anomalies and physical properties of magnetic media. Sealed copies now go for over $1K on eBay. That JVC vinyl compound is 5 times stronger and more durable than standard vinyl, and is much, much quieter. Those copies will NEVER degrade as long as they are stored properly."
