Original l974 lp on Argo (ZDA163) Michael Garrick – Troppo. Very scarce lp from Garrick and in my opinion it’s one of his very best albums. Lineup for this session is Garrick on piano and rhodes,Henry Lowther on trumpet/flugel/violin,Don Rendell on flute,tenor/sop sax,Art Themen on flute tenor/sop sax,Dave Green/Coleridge Goode on bass,Trevor Tomkins on drums. Norma Winstone on vocals.What an incredible set! Ranging from deep modal tracks to hard hitting grooves with drum patterns that sound completely contemporary. Amazing wordless vocals from Norma.A true pleasure from beginning to end,an absolute gem of an album and a very important piece of British jazz history.
