WHY IS IT SO RARE TO FIND THIS PROMO BOX SET? 

1.  Early ("illegal") release in November, 1982 of Michael Jackson's song, "Someone In The Dark" recorded on this album caused a record label lawsuit that ended up in the Supreme Court.  The Court ruled that all releases and sales of this song were immediately prohibited and ordered that all current recordings and copies of the song be instantly recalled and pulled from record shelves across the world, leaving the few already-sold recordings and albums to become instant collector's items and very hard to find! this being the promo came out first and should have the recording on it. I have never played the record so I don't know for certain.

2.  It's said that Michael Jackson becomes quite emotional and actually cries while narrating the final released recording for this album!   Quincy Jones was reported as sharing that Michael Jackson expressed such emotion while recording the narration for the story part where E.T. is dying, and it's allegedly that recording with him crying that they used in the final release recording of this album.

3.  This Spectacular Album Won Michael Jackson His Record 8th Grammy Award For "Best Recording For Children - Single or Album, Musical or Spoken" in February, 1984!  Upon receiving this particular Grammy award, with Brooke Shields and Emmanuel Lewis by his side and after another standing ovation from the Grammy audience members, Michael Jackson was quoted as saying:  "Of All The Awards I've Won Tonight, I'm Most Proud of THIS One...Honestly!"

4.  This Special Edition box LP set has the special publicity 22"x22" 4-color poster of Michael Jackson And E.T. interacting together in it, which was highly sought after by the explosion of instant Michael Jackson fans following the 1982 release of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album.  Most of the posters in the few sets that were sold before the sales prohibition were opened up by young, adoring fans who placed these posters up on walls and subsequently damaged them or ruined their value.
