Ce disque fait partie de la collection privée d’un ancien employé de la maison de disques PATHE MARCONI-EMI. Il travaillait dans le studio d’enregistrement de Boulogne Billancourt, 62 rue de Sèvres, entre 1970 et 1990. C’est dans ce Studio qu’ont été enregistré certains albums des Beatles ou des Rolling Stones, par exemple.
Cet employé du Studio a conservé pour sa collection personnelle un exemplaire de nombreux disques qui sont sortis de ce studio au milieu des années 80, nouveauté ou ré-édition, sous leur format :
- « commercial » (identique à ceux diffusés dans le commerce, mais remis directement en main propre, sans qu’ils ne passent par le circuit de distribution traditionnel),
- ou « promo » (exemplaires identiques au format commercial pré-diffusés en série limitée comme promotion du disque. Ils portent la mention « Interdit à la vente » ou « Promotion »),
- ou « Test Pressing (TP) », les plus rares. Un Test Pressing est une mini-série du disque, entre 5 et 10 exemplaires produits, qui sert à valider la matrice avant de lancer la production à grande échelle. Le Test Pressing est en général diffusé au Producteur, à l’Artiste, et aux personnes en charge de la production dans la maison de disques afin de s’assurer que le résultat est conforme à l’attendu. On trouve les disques « Tests Pressing » avec ou sans pochette, et toujours sans l’étiquette définitive au centre du disque.
Les disques de cette collection ont ensuite été entreposés dans des conditions remarquables pendant les 35 années qui ont suivi, ce qui permet aujourd’hui de les retrouver en état PARFAIT, ou « MINT » selon la classification adoptée de façon standard, à la fois pour le disque et pour la pochette.
A cette époque, PATHE MARCONI-EMI était propriétaire des labels de disques : Columbia, La Voix de Son Maitre, Capitol Records (racheté en 1955), Blue Note Records, … EMI est ensuite rachetée par UNIVERSAL MUSIC en 2011.

This record is part of the private collection of a former employee of the major PATHE MARCONI-EMI. He used to work in the recording studio, located in Boulogne Billancourt, 62 rue de Sèvres, near Paris, between 1970 and 1990. In this Studio have been recorded some of the Albums of the Beatles or the Rolling Stones, for example.
This employee of the Studio did keep for his personnal collection one exemplary of many of the records that have been printed in this studio in the middle 80s, new record or re-edition, in the format :
- « commercial » (similar to those diffusés dans le commerce, but given directly hand to hand after pressing, sot hey did not follow the traditional distribution circuit),
- or « promotion » (exemplaries identical to the commercial ones but diffused in limited serial as a promotion of the record. They have the mention « Cannot be sold » or « Promotion Only»),
- or « Test Pressing (TP) », the rarest. A Test Pressing is a mini serie of records, beetween 5 and 10 exemplaries produced, whose ai mis to validate the matrix before starting the production at a large scale. The Test Pressing is in general diffused to the Producer, the Artist, and the persons in charge of the production for the major so that they can be sure that the result is correspondant at what was expected. Once can find « Tests Pressing » with or without cover, and always without the final stamp at the center of the record.
Records from this collection have then been stored in ideal conditions during the following 35 years, what allow today to find them in a perfect state, called « MINT » according to the standard classification, as well for the record than for the cover.
To conclude, i will remind that, by that time, PATHE MARCONI-EMI was the owner of the labels : Columbia, La Voix de Son Maitre, Capitol Records (bought in 1955), Blue Note Records (the more famous for Jazz amateurs). EMI was bought by UNIVERSAL MUSIC in 2011.
