POSSIBLY THE most underated guitar player during the seventies. Ronson's cool was astoundingly brilliant, a silver suited six string God who took Bowie's half cocked songs and injected then with a sense of majesty and brilliance that just couldn't have been provided by any other player. It wasn't so much his technique but more about what he decided to leave out than put in - simple riffs and economical solos being the key to his trade.
When Bowie split up the Spiders From Mars he must have been stark raving bonkers - after all the success he'd struggled to achieve he tossed it asside as if it wasn't anything special. History has gone on to prove that Bowie's soul-boy phase the Thin White Duke was an utter joke. Meanwhile Ronson went on to cut a couple of golden solo albums, this one being the better of the two with a blistering version of the Velvet Underground's 'White Light/White Heat'.
As glam as they come yet packing a solid hard rock punch, this my friends is the sound of a great talent.

This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
