MIJ "Color by the Number" (ESP 1098)1969.Rare original pressing Folk psych lp with an almost avant edge to it..One of the more obscure titles on this label.........From "Fuzz Acid and Flowers" :
Well, it's E.S.P. time and again strange doesn't begin to describe this. Basically a record of a man and his guitar, this LP manages with the simple means of vocals, guitar playing, whistling and some studio effects (loads of echo everywhere) to create a compelling listening experience. Unlike on any other release by this label that I know of, the music is quite straightforward in itself. The opening Two Stars sounds common enough, but the 7 minutes plus Grok (martian love call), evidently partly sung in Martian too, sees the singer diving through inner space with dexterity and courage. At times vaguely reminiscent of the British songwriter Simon Finn, Jim journeys along through a set of disconcerting songs that all sound like far-out space-rock played on acoustic guitar only. Extremely soft passages turn up unexpectedly and odd dissonances occur. Little Boy has a slightly untuned guitar and jarring stops. Never Be Free has disquieting repetitive phrases and the long Look Into The (K)Night has a spectral and disjointed way of playing. Balancing precariously between terror and bliss, this is one of the still undiscovered psych records that must be pigeon-holed like that on the strength of the uncompromisingly psychedelic inner attitude of the player. Practically incomparable to anything else, this comes recommended for adventurous listeners....
Nice cover with 2 small seam splits on lower seam (1" and 2"), tiny corner dings...Super Clean disc!...VG+/M-....

PACKAGING/SHIPPING/POSTAGE:PLEASE NOTE: I have set my shipping prices to cover my cost on an average basis. Your box may cost me a bit less to mail than I charged you, or a bit more.Priority postage can vary from zip code to zip code and Records and jackets don't all weigh the same amount, therefore I can't set a "perfect" price for everyone, ESPECIALLY INTERNATIONAL! I ship all lp's in a new rigid custom LP mailer and filler pads with the disc in inner sleeve placed behind cover to prevent seam splitting in transit. Part of my postage fee covers the cost of the mailer and pads. I DO NOT use flimsy "freebie" post office priority mailers!...
Postage for 1-2 lp's within USA is $3.00 for Media rate (slower but reliable)...OR.... Priority Postage =$6.50, each additional lp add $1.00. .
Insurance is optional, But any unsinsured package is the Buyers responsibility (i.e At Your Own Risk) and I can not refund lost or damaged packages (which is very rare)..Insurance rates are as Follows :0-$50.00 =$1.30; $50.01-$100.00=$2.20; $100.01-$200.00 =$3.20; $200.01 and Higher =$4.20.
Foreign Postage Rates :Airmail Europe/UK =$11.00 for 1 LP, each additional lp add $3.00 per LP ( Double albums count as 2 lp's).. Surface mail (very slow, possible 6-8 weeks!) 1 lp=$5.50...Airmail for Japan/Australia/Asia = $12.00 for 1 LP; each additional lp=$3.00(per lp). Surface mail 1 LP =$6.00. Airmail Canada =$5.50 for 1 lp...Registered airmail is an ADDITIONAL $8.00.
SEALED LP POLICY: I can not guarantee vintage Sealed lp's for defects, pressing problems etc; However I will be more than happy to open any sealed lp prior to shipping to check for any problems for the winning bidder!
