MIKE BLOOMFIELD – I’m Cutting Out. Sundazed Records LP 5105. NEW UNPLAYED VINYL RECORD ALBUM. This is the 2013 pressing, originally issued on Sundazed in 2001. Compiles 10 previously unreleased 1964-65 studio recordings. NOTE: This comes in a sealed outer poly sleeve with circular hype sticker and perforation strip on the spine edge. However, the perforation strip has come off (last copy my distributor had, and it is out of print, visually graded brand spankin’ new). The sleeved record will be placed outside the jacket for shipping.

DESCRIPTION: I'm Cutting Out, first issued in 2001, features previously unreleased 1964-1965 studio recordings by guitarist Mike Bloomfield. The album includes early electric guitar tracks that predate the Butterfield Blues Band and was sourced from original Columbia Records master tapes. It is notable for its raw, pre-Butterfield blues-rock sound, with Bloomfield playing a Telecaster instead of his later Les Paul. SIDE BAR: Worth tracking down is a copy of guitarist Mike Johnson’s album, as by, The Exkursions, independently issued self-titled album in 1971; A three-piece power rock / blues rock trio formed in Chicago in 1968. Mike plays all the guitar and wrote or co-wrote all the songs and was a close friend of Bloomfield’s. Via a phone call from Los Angeles, Bloomfield asked Johnson to fill the bass slot in The Electric Flag, but he declined due to forming his own local Chicago blues-rock trio. The CD version of The Exkursions album was issued in 1998 on the Hidden Vision Records label, which is out of print, but worth the search as this reissue was remastered. A new copy of the original LP will run over $100. After the demise of The Exkursions Mike issued a string of Christian themed albums, more philosophical than preachy.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.

NEW LP: This item is new and unplayed, but was received from a supplier without being shrink wrapped or cellophane wrapped; more common on imports but also many of the smaller independent US labels do not seal their LPs. These items are placed inside of a clear poly outer sleeve upon their receipt by me

MIX: This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style.
