  MIKE COOPER   IAN ANDERSON

with CHRIS TURNER, ELLIOT JACKSON, AL JONES, NOEL SHELDON

Influential British guitarist Mike Cooper is primarily regarded as a folk-blues guitarist

and singer/songwriter, though his wide range of work cannot be so easily defined.

Cooper began opening for a host of traveling American bluesmen as well as British stars of the era.

He met fellow folk-blues musician Ian A. Anderson in 1967. Between them, the pair recorded

three four-track EPs for the SayDisc label. They released a full album of these tracks

as well as new pieces entitled The Inverted World. Anderson (who was not the same guy

that fronted Jethro Tull) was a bottleneck and slide guitarist. Indeed from 1970

he added the 'A' between his names to avoid confusion with the Jethro Tull frontman.

He'd been in a local R&B band at school, but from 1966 started playing folk and blues

clubs around Bristol. He also recorded an EP the following year with Al Jones and Elliot Jackson,

Anderson, Jones, Jackson in 1968. The same year he began touring nationally

as part of the British blues boom with artists like Mike Cooper and Jo-Ann Kelly
