A RARE UK pressing of Mike McGear`s second solo album, the eponymously titled "McGear", on Warner Brothers Records (September 1974).
Although a finely rocking and very humourous album in its own right, "McGear" remains especially noteworthy for the fact that Paul McCartney & Wings are featured as Mike McGear`s backing band throughout. McGear`s brother Paul can also be heard singing the ending of "What Do We Really Know?", on "Givin' Grease A Ride", as well as on harmony vocals on other tracks. Combined with the fine, ironic humour of Mike McCartney-McGear, this gives the album the ever so slight, magical touch of the younger McCartney`s previous band...whom we all remember well.
GRADING:
EX++ COVER with only the lightest general wear. Please see photos for details.
- A few light creases to the spine.
- Minimal edge wear at bottom only.
MINT- RECORD, played very lightly overall.
- Near-perfect vinyl on both sides, with impeccable audio reproduction throughout.
- A few of the very lightest hairlines from sleeve removal only: Practically "as new".
- Original first-press Warner "Burbank Palms" labels are spindle-free on both sides.
- The matrix stamps in the run-off grooves read "K56051-A5 - Melys!" and "K56051-B5 - Melys & Pauls", respectively.
PLEASE NOTE: Not to be compared with the more-often-than-not substandard vinyl on offer on eBay, this item is in honestly-graded MINT- condition: You will not find another copy of "McGear" as nice as this one - especially at this bargain price. "True value for money" is the motto here!
