COLUMBIA RECORDS DB 8066 ~ A STUNNINGLY RARE STOCK COPY!! rare 1966 Original Release  pressing 7"

The MIKE STUART SPAN hailed from Brighton, had a tragedy in the band when one of the lads died, falling from a window. In this debut 45 they gave out a cheerful invitation on a version of a soul hit - to visit their (and my!) South Coast hometown. The featured 'A' side is a highly regarded pop-psych, meaty beaty Mod dancer - and it is worthy of the renown! A cool driving backbeat calls on a deep horn, augmenting the upbeat guitar and perfect drum sound. Stuart Hobday composed a really nice record here - and he delivers vocals with intent. Wonderful! The band went on to record some good music, and appeared in a cool documentary 'diary of a band' - and played at The Brighton Dome on a bill with Scott Walker, and The Herd. (They later became a very decent prog band as LEVIATHAN) Both sides really are right in the Mod RnB style!   This sold few (almost no) copies, and is VERY rare in any form, more so a stock non-demo copy! A sales flop even locally.   This is in TOP condition!
Rare, and very collectible among freakbeat and mod-beat fans.
