Description

MIKE WESTBROOK CONCERT BAND, CELEBRATION, DERAM UK-67 SML 1013 * SUPERB COPY*

+ LOVELY COPY OF THIS UK JAZZ RARITY +

DISC/S: NEAR MINT, the surface is a sheen of original gloss, extremely well-looked after, I have tried to show this in the photos above and below this text. I can see only two superficial (meaning faint and silent) wispy gloss scuffs, one on each side. Playback is exceptional, these Decca pressed late 1960's Deram titles were superbly mastered. The matrix is ZAL-8038-1W, the 'W' means this pressing was mastered by Decca master engineer Harry Fisher, who along with Ted Burkett produced some of the best sounding records of all time, both with releases consistently on the audiophile TAS / HP lists. You can read more about these engineers on the LondonJazzCollector website, or Harry Pearson's highend-audio website, amongst others.

AUDIO GRADE: A key UK jazz 1960s title. The whole album was play tested and it plays as good as it looks, quiet where it should be and thumping where it should be, we particularly enjoyed that immense bass run by Harry Miller at the end of Pastoral which is rich and clean. You've got John Surman in his prime, Mike Osborne, Malcolm Griffiths, Alan Jackson, Bernie Living and so it goes on. Gramphone Magazine called it 'an exceptional good LP' at the time (you can still read their original 1968 review online). We have a pair of Lowther Acousta speakers in the office at then moment and the pairing of this disc, our normal amp and Thorens was quite something.

SLEEVE: EX, mostly glossy and clean, sharp spines (pictured) minimal wear including a few laminate crinkles. The reverse is clear and readable although there is a little residue of something (might clean off but we haven't tried) to the top left hand (pictured below)

INNER: original polylined Decca inner. EX

LABELS: (PICTURED) proud with a little spindle scuff at the hole (minimal and pictured)

MATRIX: ZAL-8038-1W

+++++

Now the boring bit ...

Returns accepted, but you will need to return the same LP with same matrix, same sleeve (we mark both with invisible pen) and use signed registered delivery. We had a few bad experiences in the past and now need to insist on registered and insured return post (at the buyer expense).

Records that sell for more than £35 require insured delivery at extra cost to the buyer. In the UK this is £2.75, for the EU and WW + £4.75

Payment is by Paypal ONLY please, in US$ or GB Pounds Sterling..

Buy multiple items and save on shipping costs. All accounts settled at the end of the month.

Packing materials - cruciform mailers, fresh polyliner/s, plenty of stiffeners, fragile tape - we collect records too and send records out as we would like to receive them.

GRADING:

Mint  - as new

NM:   Clean but opened. Plays mint.

Ex+:   The occassional non-sounding hairline mark.

Ex:   A few more hairline and light marks. Superb playback with perhaps 1-5 very occasional pops or ticks, but otherwise clean playing with sound quality true to the original intent of the sound enginners. In a similPerhaps An Ex cover will be structurally sound with no splits or tears.

Ex minus : A few more hairline and light marks still. May be some faint background noise in places.

VG+:  Quite a few marks but plays acceptably. I only list records like this if they are rare.

VG:   A lot of marks. I only list records like this if they are very rare.
