Description
This Rudy Van Gelder recording session was on April 29, 1954 and featured Miles Davis (tp) J.J. Johnson (tb) Lucky Thompson (ts) Horace Silver (p) Percy Heath (b) Kenny Clarke (d). SIDE A: BLUE ‘N’ BOOGIE and SIDE B: WALKIN’. This was the original 10 inch release before it was reissued on 12 inch 2 years later. The initials “RVG” are stamped on both sides of the blank vinyl. The address on the LP is 446 W. 50th ST, N.Y.C. and on the dust jacket is 446 W. 50th St., New York 19, N.Y. This is a first pressing and is a MONO recording.
I have graded both the vinyl and the record jacket as EX. There are no marks on either side of the vinyl and, when played, I could not hear any surface noise. It’s close to a M- rating, but that’s almost impossible to list it as that, due to age. The record jacket is in excellent as there are no taped seams. The cover shows no wear. The liner notes are slightly faded, due to age. There is minimal wear in and around the spindle hole and the vinyl still retains its original shine.
