Description
Up for auction is a nice early pressing of the Miles Davis classic "Birth Of The Cool" originally released in the U.S. on Capitol Records (T-762) in 1957.
-Early Capitol pressing -Black & Rainbow labels -Mono pressing -Heavy inflexible vinyl -Paste-down cover -Original '50s Capitol inner sleeve -No UPC/bar code on cover -Vinyl comes in audiophile poly-lined sleeve
Condition: The cover is still in very good condition with moderate signs of age and wear. Front is still nice, no heavy or obvious ring wear, which is typical for this album. Just some light rubbing overall. Back is good, light ring wear with a little age around edges, but generally clean. Seams are good, no splits, but show typical light cracking and crazing, a little flaking. Corners are good, but rubbed a little. Still a very presentable, attractive example of this iconic cover. Grade it Very Good Plus (VG+).
The vinyl is still in nice condition, retains much of its original shine. Does have a number of light, superficial hairlines and scuffs, but nothing deep or serious that affect the quality of the playback, which is very nice. Labels are clean.
Play-Tested: I have play tested this record, and when played in the recommended Mono Mode, the sound quality is excellent, very clean and clear. Very little if any surface or background "noise", no skips, no loud pops or loud clicks. Very nice full-bodied mono sound fidelity! A great listening copy on an early high-quality Capitol pressing. Grade the vinyl Very Good Plus (VG+), with the sound quality better than typical records with that grade.
