Description
The Miles Davis Quintet was an all star band that consisted of Miles, John Coltrane, Red Garland,Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones. All of their prestige LPs are great, and they all were recorded by the legendary Rudy Van Gelder in NJ. This is a very nice copy. The cover is VG+ with a very nice shiny front, the spine has a few tears, but overall nice, the back has some toning from age, and a bend top left for about 4". There's also written in black ink "HUBBARD, DAVID L." top left. And he also wrote his name in the credits below Philly Joe Jones, and I can not make out what he says the instrument he supposedly plays? Since his name sounded like it could be a relation to Freddie Hubbard, I looked into it, and there was a David L Hubbard that was born in 1940, and a jazz player. I have no knowledge that he played on this LP, but it is interesting. Anyway, I'd rather think of it like that, than think the LP was defaced by a previous owner...
This is a US 1960 MONO FIRST PRESSING on the PRESTIGE FIRECRACKER LABEL. This copy has been played. There's light spindle marks, and the LP plays VG with some background surface sound that does not overpower the music.
Yellow & black fireworks labels with "203 South Washington Ave. Bergenfield, N.J." address printed at top and "Long playing microgroove" at bottom. "RVG" stamped into deadwax.
