MILES DAVIS
Live - Evil

1971 COLUMBIA CANADA (G 30954) FIRST PRESSING
PART LIVE, PART STUDIO AND A PIVOTAL/TRANSITIONAL RECORDING IN DAVIS' CAREER
A FANTASTIC COPY AND FINAL UPGRADE WHICH LOOKS UNPLAYED AND SOUNDS LIKE NEW

Live-Evil is an album of both live and studio recordings.
Parts of the album featured music from Davis' concert at the Cellar Door in 1970, which producer Teo Macero subsequently edited and pieced together in the studio.
They were performed as lengthy, dense jams in the jazz-rock style, while the studio recordings were renditions of Hermeto Pascoal compositions.
The album was originally released on November 17, 1971

A number of top jazz musicians feature on the album, including Keith Jarrett and Jack DeJohnette.
A key musician, John McLaughlin, was not a regular member of Miles Davis's band during the time of recording.
Miles called McLaughlin at the last minute to join the band for the last of four nights they recorded live at the Cellar Door, as Miles was "looking for an element he hadn't quite nailed down"on the previous nights.

Originally intended as a spiritual successor to Bitches Brew, Miles abandoned the idea when it became obvious that Live-Evil was "something completely different"

All four labels are pristine with no spindle traces or any sign the set has ever been played
VINYL Visual: MINT / NEAR MINT
Apart from a small and superficial brush mark on Side Three (probably present from new) the surfaces are unmarked
VINYL Audio: MINT / NEAR MINT
Plays as-new throughout with practically nothing to fault.
A touch of low-level static noted on some of the quietest moments (nothing really) but I did not even clean this copy as it looks so immaculate so this will no doubt disappear after a clean/few spins.
A fantastic copy and in my opinion final upgrade of this masterpiece
SLEEVE: NEAR MINT
Apart from a little storage rub to the bottom edge and spine the cover is crisp, clean and sharp
