The Collector's Rundown
Offered here is an absolute crown jewel of the electric Miles era: a genuine, Factory-Sealed Original 1971 First US Pressing of Live-Evil (Columbia CG 30954).
Recorded primarily live at the Cellar Door in Washington, D.C. alongside historic Columbia 30th Street Studio sessions, Live-Evil stands alongside Bitches Brew as one of the most formidable, telepathic jazz-rock fusion masterpieces ever put to tape. Featuring an untouchable lineup—Keith Jarrett, John McLaughlin, Jack DeJohnette, Airto Moreira, Michael Henderson, Gary Bartz, and Hermeto Pascoal—this 2-LP set captures Miles at the absolute zenith of his heavyweight electric funk exploration.
To find an original 1971 pressing preserved untouched in its original shrink wrap over half a century later is an exceptional rarity.
Visual & Packaging Highlights
-
Iconic Mati Klarwein Gatefold Artwork: Features the legendary, surrealist front ("Live") and rear ("Selim Sivad / Evil") portraits by Abdul Mati Klarwein (Bitches Brew, Santana's Abraxas). Colors remain vibrant and unfaded beneath the original gloss shrink.
-
Original Factory Shrink: 100% intact, fully sealed across all edges, with period-correct shrink tension and breathe holes.
-
Period Retail Sticker: Retains its original vintage price sticker affixed directly to the exterior shrink wrap on the lower-right front—a hallmark provenance marker beloved by vintage vinyl archivists.
-
No Cut-Outs: Strictly NO drill holes, promo punch-holes, clipped corners, or saw marks anywhere on the jacket.
Transparent Condition Notes (Collector-to-Collector)
Because sealed gatefolds from the early 1970s are living artifacts, we believe in radical transparency:
-
Vinyl: Presumed Mint (M). Never removed from the jacket, never exposed to ambient dust, and never touched by a stylus.
-
Jacket: Strong Near Mint to EX+ (NM/EX+). The shrink wrap remains fully sealed and tight around the perimeter. The spine and seams are fully intact with no splits. Due to natural shrink tension over 50+ years, there is the slightest, gentle shelf softening to the extreme corner tips and a subtle natural gatefold compression typical of sealed double LPs. The jacket lays flat, colors are rich, and presentation is clean enough for the finest private collection.
Shipping & Returns Policy
Professional Packaging
-
Secure Handling: Your record will be shipped in a dedicated, heavy-duty cardboard mailer (LP or 45 specific) with extra cardboard stiffeners to prevent bending or crushing.
-
Pro-Tip Protection: To prevent seam splits during transit, all opened records are shipped with the vinyl removed from the jacket (housed in its inner sleeve) and placed behind the jacket within a 4mil clear poly outer sleeve. (Note: For this factory-sealed item, it will ship intact in shrink, reinforced between multiple rigid pads).
-
45s: 7" records are shipped with the same level of care in dedicated 7-inch mailers.
Fast & Tracked Shipping
-
Handling Time: I ship within 1–2 business days of receiving cleared payment.
-
Tracking: A tracking number will be provided immediately upon shipment.
-
Combined Shipping: I am happy to combine shipping. Please wait for a revised invoice before paying to receive the discounted rate.
Returns & Satisfaction
-
The "Collector’s Guarantee": I use strict Goldmine Grading standards. If you feel the record does not match the description or grading, please contact me directly before leaving feedback. I am a collector first and I value your satisfaction.
-
30-Day Returns: I accept returns within 30 days. The item must be returned in the exact same condition it was received.
-
🚨 CONDITION POLICY: For opened records, returns are accepted if the item is returned in the same condition as sent. Any new scratches, sleeve scuffs, or damage to the jacket incurred while in the buyer's possession will void the full refund. For factory-sealed records, breaking the seal voids return eligibility.
-
Shipping Costs: Buyer is responsible for return shipping costs unless there was a significant error in the listing.
💎 The "Vault" Collection: Attention Collectors: I am currently in the process of listing a massive, world-class collection of 250 Rare First Pressings and Audiophile Grails.
