Description
This is a very rare original excellent mono copy of legendary Jazz LP by Miles Davis, Birth Of The Cool, released in 1956 on the original turquoise blue label by Capitol Records. Also included in the original inner sleeve in addition to the plastic lined sleeve housing the record. This LP is very rare with near mint copies having a book value of $200
As to grading, I grade very conservatively following Goldmine Record grading standard. Except that for records that are a notch below near mint, rather than VG ++, I prefer to use grade of Excellent. I do not use VG++ grade in addition to Excellent grade as is done by some.
The LP is in very clean excellent condition with no visible marks, The LP was play graded and plays very quietly throughout with the minor exception of a slight tick audible at the last instance of cut, Rocker, on Side 2. Overall the LP plays very nicely.The cover is very good condition. There is visible yellowed tape at the top seam of cover that covers seam splits. And there is a split at the top from tape to the mouth. There is a small split at the bottom seam mouth of less than 1 inch. The rest of the bottom seam is clean up to the spine corner. The spine is still nice but does show some crack near the top and at bottom corner. The product information is still clearly readable on the spine. The front of cover is cover is very clean sharp image although there is some damage near the upper corner and creases at the 2 lower corners.
The LP is being sold without reserve and payment is expected within 3 days of auction close. Return of the LP will only be accepted if the same LP sold is returned and in the same condition received. Buyers that behave in a less than ethical or unreasonable manner will be reported and blocked from participation in future auctions.
