Description

JIMMY WAKELY
MILK COW BLUES

THE BASICS
ARTIST : Jimmy Wakely
LABEL : Capitol 40107
SELECTIONS : Bouquet Of Roses
Milkcow Blues
RECORD DATE : 1948
CONDITION : E

The lead track on this is the song “Bouquet Of Roses” which was a current hit by Eddy Arnold. Wakely had his version trying to compete on the charts in December of 1948.

The really interesting side is over on the flip – his version of the R&B tune “Milk Cow Blues.” This is the same Kokomo Arnold tune that Elvis Presley would record for Sun Records, inventing rockabilly at the same time, albeit six years after this. So… to hear this R&B song, turned country is a bit of a sneak preview of rock & roll down the road. But then, Elvis never dreamed of having Scotty & Bill doing cow sound effects in his recording.
